1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
