Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper.

Melt brown sugar, butter, and vanilla extract in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally.

Stir in eggs one at a time, followed by flour, salt, and chocolate chips. If using nuts, fold them in at this stage.
