Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs, room temperature
1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk, room temperature
½ cup sour cream, room temperature
1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 8-inch pans.
2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
4. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
5. Combine milk and sour cream.
6. Alternate dry and wet ingredients, mixing gently.
7. Divide batter between pans and bake 30–35 minutes.
8. Cool completely before frosting.
9. Beat butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for frosting.
10. Frost and decorate as desired.
