Why This Recipe Works

  • The ease of preparation makes it a great option for weeknight dinners or quick meals.
  • The use of a pie crust adds a satisfying crunch and texture to the dish.

Key Ingredients

When it comes to selecting the right ingredients, quality matters. For the best flavor, use ground beef with a high fat content, such as 80/20 or 70/30. For the bacon, opt for thick-cut, smoked bacon for a deeper flavor. You can find these ingredients at your local grocery store or online at our recipe resources.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 or 70/30)

6 slices of thick-cut, smoked bacon

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

1 onion, diced

2 cloves of garlic, minced

1 pie crust

Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

1
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.

2
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain the excess fat and return the bacon to the skillet.

3
Stir in the grated cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

4
Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Fill the pie crust with the cheese and bacon mixture and smooth the top with a spatula.

5
Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Storage & Reheating

After the pie has cooled, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, bake the pie in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the crust is crispy.
