1 pound (450g) ground beef

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup (115g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (240g) beef broth, less salted

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 cups (240g) sliced mushrooms

2 large eggs

1 cup (120g) plain breadcrumbs

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup (115g) grated cheddar cheese (optional)

2 steaks (1-1.5 pounds / 450-670g each)
