Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef

1 large onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1 cup beef broth

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tbsp brown gravy mix

Directions

1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and 1 tbsp of the flour. Mix well with your hands or a spoon until just combined.

2
Heat 2 tbsp of the oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty. Add to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.

3
Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside. Reduce the heat to medium and add the remaining 2 tbsp of oil, then sprinkle the remaining 1 tbsp of flour into the oil and whisk until smooth.

4
Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown gravy mix to the skillet, whisking until smooth. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes, until thickened.

5
To serve, place a beef patty on each plate and spoon some of the savory brown gravy over the top.

Storage & Reheating

Once cooked, allow the hamburger steaks to cool completely before refrigerating or freezing. Reheat by pan-frying with a bit more oil until warmed through.
